At the Enterprise IoT Summit, held in Austin, Texas in March 2017, Ron Zimmer – President and CEO of the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) – shared his views on the relationship between intelligent buildings and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Summit drives what it terms The IoT Revolution. “The World Economic Forum predicts that over the next decade, the Internet of Things revolution will dramatically alter manufacturing, energy, agriculture, transportation and other industrial sectors of the economy which, together, account for nearly two-thirds of the global gross domestic product (GDP). It will also fundamentally transform how people will work through new interactions between humans and machines. The real question is which organisations and individuals will lead the way and which ones will be left in the dust.”

In this video, Zimmer explains the need to “connect to what’s next”, specifically with reference to smart buildings. He defines these as any building with integrated systems, and an intelligent space that will transform efficiency, comfort, and safety for people and assets. These are networked intelligent and adaptable, connecting traditionally siloed systems.
